Congratulations to Peter Kowal!

At the start of the Sweet Sixteen round he had a 3.4% chance of winning. Seven brackets had better odds of winning at that time but Peter's pick of Duke helped him to beat the odds and take the top prize.

Congratulations also to Jeff Swinney for taking second place and George Brayer for third and Bob Mac for getting his entry fee back.

Other stats:

Once again no upset - for the tournament there were 20 upsets in 63 games – 31.74%.

The best anyone could have scored in the tournament was 284 points.

Walid had the best pick percentage with 68% correct. Five brackets picked less than half the games corrrectly.

Almost half the brackets picked better than RPI which had a 62% pick percentage. Peter Kowal also won with a 62% pick rate which is the lowest winning pick percentage in the five years of the pool. This proves you don't have to pick all the games correctly, just the RIGHT games correctly. All but seven brackets picked better than the Tournament Committee which picked at a rate of 56%.

Hopefully these stats will give you insights into picking better next year.

Thanks to everyone who played - we hope you enjoyed this year's pool. See you next year!
