Congrats to Stephen Sanger who takes the overll tournament pool on the tiebreaker.
Carlos deMelo takes second place - tough to lose on the tiebreaker (and they made a run for it with the overtime too).
Rounding out the top three is Spillane.

And Jeff Swinney with the lowest point total and worst pick percentage gets his entry fee back.

Thanks again guys - it was fun.

March 30, 2008 - 9:30PM
Never give up on the Tournament committee. For the first time in the tournament history the four number one seeds have made it to the final four. While the pool leaders all took a hit picking Texas over Memphis, they are still on top - but now it is tighter.

March 29, 2008 - 5:30PM
Talk about a bracket buster - no one picked Davidson to go this far - which hurt (helped?) everyone.

If you haven't paid Stephen Sanger you need to do so ASAP! (Even me - don't worry Stephen - I'll pay you as soon as I get back.)

Now there are at least three people eliminated from the money - and even the tournament committee isn't doing well. But if you're below the Tournament Committee, well, perhaps you need to think about not playing the pool next year.

Sweet 16 mid-round update - just posting the results - analysis tomorrow.

March 24, 2008 - 6:00AM
Another top seed bites the dust and the top of the leaderboard is shaken up.

Congrats to Stephen Sanger for taking the lead from Bob Hemphill with the bold pick of Davidson over Georgetown.

There are now 32,768 possible scenarios for the tournament to play out and in all of those scenarios, only one player, Jeff Swinney has been mathematically eliminated from finishing in the top three places. Be sure to check out all the possibilities in the Reports section of the site.

March 23, 2008 - 5:30AM
Congrats to Bob Hemphill for staying on top of the leaderboard after the middle of round 2. Stephen Sanger is right behind with the rest of the field a distant third.

March 22, 2008 - 6:30PM
ANother big upset today with the Dukies being sent home by W. Virginia.
Be sure to check out the Current Standings to see how you're doing. After this round we'll get to the scenarios to see who will win based upon the final games.

March 22, 2008 - 7:30AM
Friday was dog day for the tourney with 6 favorites falling. The carnage was devastating. THis is probably the first time in history that two 12 seed playing 13 seed games is happening in the same tournament.

Congrats to Bob Hemphill for taking the lead and Stephen Sanger for jumping up 14 spots to tie him (must have seen the carnage coming.)

Good luck today to everyone!

March 20, 2008 - 9:30PM
Congrats to Bill Fanning - he's the leader after the first day of the tourney with an 88% pick rate and he scored 20 our of a possible 22 points today.

Be sure to check out the Projected Standings to see how far you still have to go in the tourney. The bigger the points gauge the better your chances. Bill, Greg Stechschulte and Stephen Sanger currently have the most headroom and are projected to be in the top three spots.

Remember, only one update at the end of the day tomorrow. Good luck to everyone!

March 20, 2008 - 7:00PM
Bill Fanning and Bob Hemphill have pulled into the lead by picking Kansas St. in the upset over USC. THe other mild upset this afternoon was Texas A&M over BYU - also picked by Hemphill and Fanning.

Four more games to go today and we'll get a standings baseline. More later.

March 20, 2008 - 2:00PM
First four games are done and the field is split in two.

If you look at the current standings you'll see an extra entry - Tour. Cmte. (No money). This is how the Tournament Committee would score if they were in the pool. This is based on every higher seed winning every game over the lower seed. In last year's pool if you had picked like the Tournament Committee you would have won the whole thing. And for you to consider yourself smart about college basketball, you should at least do better than this entry in the pool.

Check back after four more games today.

March 20, 2008 - 7:30AM
The site is a work in progress - I'll be working today to get it all squared away.
Couple of things to note:

1 - Remember the deadline for your picks - 9:15AM PDT March 20, 2008! The system will lock you out from making picks after that time. You only have a few hours to finalize your bracket.

2 - Referrer email is not required unless you have been referred to the pool and are not on the Men's Club list.

3 - You can enter your bracket any time . You can also enter multiple brackets - just be sure to put a new number after your name and remember - each pick will cost you $20. If you decide to make a change to your bracket after you have submitted it to the system, you will have to reenter the entire bracket and resubmit it before the deadline. If you want multiple picks and don't use different pick numbers, the system assumes you are updating your previous pick, so be sure to pay attention to your pick numbers. Once you make your picks, check your email - the system will send you a copy of your picks for your records. Once they have been validated by the system (which will happen twice a day between now and Thursday) you can go to the site and download a PDF version of your picks. If you have any questions send an email.

Don't forget - pick sheet is here!

Good luck!
