It's all over!

Those of you who had Ohio State knew it was going to be a tough road tonight!

Congratulations to Kaipo Young! Last year he finished in second place with 101 points and 62% pick percentage. This year, he finishes with 148 points, 73% pick percentage and is one of six who picked the national champion. However, he didn't have the best pick percentage - that honor goes to Phil Hayes #2, last year's winner with a 76% ranking. Unfortunately, he did not pick the games that mattered most this year.

If you picked every game correctly in this tournament you would have had a total of 218 points.

And if after all this you think you know college hoops, think about this: If you had picked all higher seeds in the tournament as the Tournament Committee effectively does with its seeding process, and with the higher seeded teams expected to beat the lower seeded teams every round, you would have won the overall pool with 158 points and a 79% pick percentage! No one did better than the Tournament Committee this year.

Thanks to everyone for a fun tournament and we look forward to doing this again next year.

And don't forget, if you haven't paid yet, please do!

Today's results eliminate all but six different players. Congrats to all the players who are still in it and for the potential of picking the ultimate winner. For everyone else, there's always next year!

March 30, 2007 - 10:30AM PDT
A reminder about payment.

There are currently eleven guys who have still not paid (seven of whom are out of the running for the top three places - you know who you are!)

You can either pay me this Sunday (I'll be at 10AM mass) or throw a check in the mail to me. I'd like to make sure the winners are paid promptly. Thanks!

WIth the ousting of Oregon and North Carolina today the picture becomes even clearer. Fred, we hope you enjoyed your brief stay in the number one spot. And Phil Hayes #2 is thinking the Tar Heels for next year.

Maximum possible points thus far is 154.

Congrats to rookie George Pugsley (new to the Men's Club and the pool) for climbing into first place with 109 points

Also, be sure now to check out the Tournament Scenarios page. This page shows the final order of finish depending upon which teams play in the finals and who is the ultimate winner.

Good luck to those still in it!

So UCLA makes Kansas the first number 1 seed to bite the dust. And eliminates five more guys from contention for the top spot as well as make the top five about as close as you can get.

With all correct picks today you'd have 137 points.

Congrats to Fred DePalm (do you feel the love now Fred?) for jumping into the lead with 93 points and 74% pick percentage. Two guys are tied for second and another two tied for fourth.

Eight guys have now been mathematically eliminated from the top three spots and Doug Spillane is the first one who sees his point gauge turn red with a total of 81 points.

Good luck tomorrow to those still in it!

Who sent the dogs home?

The last two days were not good for the dogs though the higher seeds struggled in almost every game.

With 100% correct picks, you would have a total of 120 points so far. Congratulations goes to Phil Hayes #2 jumping five spots into first place going into the Elite 8. Phil had all four picks correct today giving him a total of 86 points and 82% correct picks.

Yet, in spite of his performance today, Phil is now not the projected winner.

Rookie George Pugsley is now the projected winnerwith 182 points.

Now there are only 16 players who could possibly take the top spot. And Barry Woods has joined Bill Murphy as being mathematically eliminated from the top three spots.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Only two upsets today - Butler and Vanderbilt. Though there were many scares today (Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, UCLA.) This is a tourney for the favorites.

With 100% correct picks so far the maximum points you would have received is 65. Congratulations to Kaipo again for staying on top of the pack at the end of the third day of tournament play with a pick percentage of XX% and a total of XX points. Kaipo is having a VERY GOOD month!

March 16, 2007 - 9:45PM PDT
Once again the favorites rule the day with only Purdue and Winthrop bringing underdog points.

After the first two days of the tournament, the maximum number of points you could have scored with 100% correct picks is 45. Congrats to Kaipo Young scoring 36 of 45 possible points and climbing to the top of the results with a pick percentage over 81% (10 percentage points better than he did last year after the first round.)

Good luck tomorrow!

March 15, 2007 - 9:10PM PDT
What a day! So much for the dogs with VCU pulling off the biggest upset of the day beating Duke. And besides two 9 teams (Mich. St & Xavier) beating 8 teams (Marquette & BYU), the rest of the day went to the favorites. If this is any indication, those of you that went big on the dogs are going to have a tough day tomorrow. Congrats to Gary "Go Badgers" Frings for leading the pack at the end of the first day.

The picks are locked and loaded and the prize pot has been determined. See the prize page for how the winnings will be distributed.

I want to point out a few reports for you that you'll find interesting.

First, you always want to keep your eyes on the current standings. This is where you'll find how you're doing compared to the rest of the pool. This will be updated after the first 16 games then every four games after that.

Projected standings shows the order of finish based upon the maxumum number of points each entry can earn based upon the picks. This will become more interesting as we progress through the rounds and as possible scenarios get reduced.

Configurable standings shows the results ranked by best pick percentages followed by total points.

Tournament results shows not only who wins each game, if you click on the pencil, it shows who picked each team in that game. This is great for trying to figure out how your competitors will score in each game.

The points gauge shows how many points maximum you can get in the tournament. It starts out green and as games are played, starts turning red. Green is potential points and red is actual points. When the gauge turns completely red, you're done - no more points for you.

All these reports and more can be reached directly from the REPORTS page. Any questions, just shout!

And good luck!
